This is a letter from C. A. Elliot of Revere, Mass. written in 1891 to Levi Stewart in Minneapolis. C. A. Elliot was Charlotte Augusta Swett, married to Benjamin Elliot. Ben was the son of John Elliot. John was a cousin to Levi Stewart. Originally from Corinna, Ben and Charlotte moved to Revere.
Mr. Stewart was a kind and generous man, although known to be cantankerous at times. He used his great wealth to help many relatives and friends. In this letter Charlotte speaks of family issues and her husband’s struggle to earn a living. She expresses gratitude for Levi’s friendship and the assistance he provided to her family.

Note the address does not include a street or building address. Mr. Stewart lived on Hennepin Avenue but apparently that was not required to deliver his mail.
