Bertha Elliott, a daughter of Benjamin and Charlotte, is writing to Levi asking for money to support her wedding. In the letter she mentions Levi’s wife. Levi was not married. It was known in the family that he often referred to asking his wife for advice. It seemed to be a way of deflecting a decision until he had time for consideration.
